*ADVENT OF HOLY SCRIPTURE – BHAGAWADH GITA* On the auspicious occasion of Mokshadā Ekādashi or Gita Jayanti, Lord Sri Kṛishna imparted the divine transcendental knowledge of Srimad Bhagavad Gitā to Arjuna. As Bhagavad Gita emanated from the lotus mouth of Lord Kṛishna on this day, it is also commemorated a s the ‘Appearance Day’ or ‘Birthday’ of the Holy Scripture. Just as the Holy Name of the Lord is non-different from the Lord Himself (‘bhinntvān nāma nāminoh); likewise, there is no difference between Lord Kṛishna and His instruction, i.e., the Bhagavad Gita. *GLORIES OF BHAGWAT GITA* The Bhagavad Gita is the essence of all the Vedic literature and scriptures. This is the only scripture whose jubilee is celebrated.
Everyone wants auspiciousness; nobody wants grief, miseries, distress, and fearful situations in their lives. But still, we experience all these dreadful conditions now and then. Our lives seem to have no direction but an E.C.G graph, sometimes very pleasant, but at times very miserable.
But what are the complications? We must at least know ‘why these things are happening in our lives?’ Whenever we buy something, we get an Instruction Manual to help us understand how to use the bought thing, but not knowing how to make use of this human form of life we have got, we are performing acts whimsically, out of our own will. God has also provided us with an instruction manual for this body, and it is well known as Srimad Bhagavad Gita. “Godless Society is a Headless Society” Just like it is impossible to run the body without a head, without brains, similarly, to run this world without Bhakti (Devotional Service) is impossible.
Lord Kṛishna conveyed this instruction especially at the time of crisis, on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, in between both the armies, to proclaim that through this Bhagavad Gita, one can attain the highest perfection, the highest destination, even at the time of great difficulties. We learn from the Bhagavad Gitā how Arjuna presented many logics and arguments to justify his decision not to fight with the Kauravas. Still, when he became perplexed and bewildered, he prayed to the Lord as follows: Kārpaṇya-doṣopahata-svabhāvaḥ pṛcchāmi tvāṁ dharma-sammūḍha-cetāḥ yac chreyaḥ syān niścitaṁ brūhi tan meśiṣyas te ’haṁ śādhi māṁ tvāṁ prapannam Arjuna here says, “Due to the miserly weakness of my heart, I have lost all composure and have become infirm. I cannot differentiate between right and wrong. In this condition, I am asking you to please tell me what to do. Now I am your disciple. Please instruct me.”
